India silent on Taliban leader Stanekzai’s comments

India is keeping silence to Taliban leader Sher Mohammed Stanekzai’s comments that Taliban wishes to engage with India and therefore “India is a very important for the region”.

“India is very important for the region and we wishes to have trade and economic relations with it. We expect to continue the relationship like before,” said Stanekzai in his video message. Taliban’s “peace signal” is interpreted as their changing stance towards India as the country currently is the President of UN Security Council.
