India gets its first medal in Para Shooting by Avani Lekhara

India’s Avani Lekhara wins gold in Tokyo Paralympics 2021 and marks India’s first medal in Para Shooting. The 19 year old girl won gold in Women’s 10m Air Rifle shooting standing (SH1).

Avani suffered a horrific car accident in 2012 which caused severe injuries in her spinal cord. Since then she was bound to the wheelchair. She has won Silver at the recent Para Shooting World Cup.
