France has been moved to the amber list, and the green list has been expanded.

After Sunday, fully vaccinated passengers returning from France to England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland will no longer be required to quarantine. France is transitioning from amber-plus to amber as part of a nationwide traffic light system overhaul. It was added to the list last month in response to worries about the Covid Beta version, which scientists believe is more vaccination resistant. The Department of Transportation has recently said that “arrivals from Spain and all of its islands are urged to employ a PCR test as their pre-departure test whenever possible,” rather than the less expensive lateral flow testing.
Conservative MP Huw Merriman, head of the Commons Transport Select Committee, called “expensive” PCR testing for travel a “unnecessary rip-off” in a series of tweets.
