Kerala logs 31,445 new Covid cases on Wednesday; TPR at 19.03 percent

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 31,445 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, informed the health department through a press release. With 215 new fatalities, the death toll mounted to 19,972. Test positivity rate recorded at 19.03 percent.

The district – wise statistics of positive cases: Eranakulam – 4,048, Thrissur- 3,865, Kozhikode – 3,680, Malappuram- 3,502, Palakkad – 2,562, Kollam- 2,479, Kottayam- 2,050, Kannur, 1,930, Alappuzha- 1,874, Thiruvananthapuram- 1,700, Idukki- 1,166, Pathanamthitta- 1,008, Wayanad- 962, and Kasargod-619.

A total of 1,65,273 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. In total, 3,06,19,046 samples including routine sample, sentinel sample, CBNAAT, Truenat, POCT, PCR, RTLAMP, antigen were sent for the tests.

138 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 29,608 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 1,576 patients remains unidentified.

123 health workers also tested positive for Covid – 19. Among them 33 were from Kannur, 15 from Wayanad, 13 from Thrissur, 11 from Kasargod, 10 from Palakkad, eight from Kollam, seven from Alappuzha, six from Kozhikode, four from Eranakulam and two each from Kottayam and Idukki and one from Malappuram.

Meanwhile, 20,271 recoveries were also reported in the state.
